Between 1910 and 1944 McInnes amassed a significant collection of French Impressionist, Glasgow Boy and Scottish Colourist paintings which he bequeathed to the City of Glasgow. His MLitt dissertation, ‘The McInnes Collection' was written - William McInnes (1868-1944) a Glaswegian shipowner who bequeathed his collection to Glasgow in 1944. James has lectured widely on this subject and is working towards further publications.James is a specialist in Collections Management and Valuation Services and advises both professional contacts and private clients internationally.
