Led by award-winning poet Griot Gabriel, the session focuses on poetry as a series of creative decisions—shaping voice, image, rhythm, and presence to create work that connects with an audience.

Griot Gabriel is an award winning poet, founder of The Poetry Place and a dedicated professional youth worker based in Manchester. His poetry delves into themes of race and identity, political resistance and faith. His impactful work has earned him commissions, writing and performance opportunities with Warner Bros, Factory International and a unique exhibition collaboration with CHANEL for their Metiers D'Art Show. A celebrated performer, Griot Gabriel has graced the stage at Glastonbury Festival. He is also the current Manchester’s Slam-o-Vision Champion and achieved 2nd place in the Global UNESCO’s International City of Literature Slamovision. His poem, “Where I'm From,” has achieved significant critical recognition, having been crowned the winner of the Forward Prize 2025 for Best Performed Poem.
