About the event

Like ancient drops in future tides
This event explores the relationship between the more-than-human, oral traditions, and embodied histories.

About this Event

(11:00–11:30 am) Welcome

(11:30 am–12:30 pm) Film screening: The Sybils (1977) by the Neapolitan second-wave feminist group Le Nemesiache. From an ecofeminist perspective, the work explores the connection between forgotten seers of the past and the contemporary Neapolitan landscape. Through gestures, poetry, and relationships with water and stones, Le Nemesiache reclaim new spaces for stories that have been erased by the patriarchal system. The collective has kindly granted permission to screen the film free of charge.

(12:30–4:00 pm) Collective reading of Grandma’s Story (2025) by Vietnamese filmmaker and writer Trinh T. Minh-ha, in collaboration with Silver Press. I will co-lead the workshop with Sarah Shin (director of Silver Press). The workshop will explore the communal potential of Trinh’s book through a collective reading combined with participants’ oral histories. The workshop is still in development, and we will begin working on it more concretely once Sarah’s fee is confirmed.

(4:00–4:30 pm) Break with vegan meal

(4:30–5:30 pm) Video installation Sprinkled Pearls (2024) by Italian-Mauritian artist Vashish Soobah. The work explores the feeling of belonging through informal archival research and oral history, focusing on the diasporic movements of the artist’s family. Water becomes a symbolic space for exploring Mauritian slave dances, Hinduism, and the spiritual practices of Soobah’s mother in Italy.

We will also be raising funds for The Nablus Women Support Centre
