- **Event Description**: Join us on 9th September for 'Health and Wellbeing for All', a free, public event as part of Scottish Learning Disability Week 2026.About this EventThe Scottish Learning Disabilities Observatory, Byres Community Hub and Community Organiser David Weir present 'Health and Wellbeing for All' during #ScotLDWeek26This free event is open to the public and is for anyone interested in accessible healthy lifestyle activities and information about improving health and wellbeing for all. This event is part of Scottish Learning Disability Week, which is about celebrating people with learning disabilities and increasing awareness of the challenges they face every day. The event is open to all and may be of particular interest to people with learning disabilities, neurodivergent people, disabled people, families and carers, and the people and organisations who support them. The venue is fully accessible and has a Changing Places Toilet. We will be joined by a number of organisations including Glasgow Life, Space for All, Wel-Co.me, Dates n Mates, Speech Bubble along with many more (some partners TBC). They'll be offering a range of activities, demonstrations and information about inclusive and accessible activities and facilities to support health and wellbeing for all. Researchers from the Scottish Learning Disabilities Observatory will also share the latest research and education programmes to support healthy lifestyles for people with learning disabilities. Lunch and refreshments will be available. If you miss one, you can sign up for the next one. Please see below for details. 
Please note that the main entrance to the building is currently closed for some repair works. Please enter via the door at St Mungo’s Square. It is under a covered walkway. You can reach the St Mungo Square entrance from:
Dumbarton Road (or Church Street), crossing St Mungo Square. 
Byres Road by walking to the right of the Clarice Pears building around the temporary fencing. There will be signage pointing you in the right direction. 
Timings: 
12pm – the event begins. Lunch/tea/coffee will be available – please visit the registration desk and take a raffle ticket to get some lunch. 
All afternoon from 12-4pm Visit the different stalls to find out about organisations, activities or new research to support good health and wellbeing. You can also try Boccia Fun in room 146 throughout the day. 🕑: 01:00 PM - 02:00 PMHere are some scheduled activities happening: Host: Mind and DrawInfo: 1-2pm Mind and Draw will run a painting and drawing session for people of all abilities who want to learn to draw, paint & express themselves creatively.🕑: 01:30 PM - 02:15 PMWalk Detectives: Led walking and wheeling session with Glasgow Life Good MovesHost: Glasgow Life Info: This activity combines a short introduction to some research about the barriers and facilitators for walking, with Dr Arlene McGarty. We will then head out on a led walking and wheeling session with Glasgow Life and become walk detectives, identifying different things that help with walking or wheeling, and also things that make going for a walk or wheel harder Maximum: 20 people. Please note this session will run again at 3pm-3.45pm.  Please dress for an outdoor activity (including a waterproof jacket). If it deemed too wet to be outside on the day there will be an indoor stretching session led by Glasgow Life. 🕑: 01:30 PM - 02:00 PMDocumentary Film Screening: Game ChangersHost: Speech Bubble Info: Documentary Film Screening: Game Changers. This new documentary from the team at Speech Bubble shares the experiences of five young disabled women and one disabled man, exploring disability sport opportunities available in Glasgow today and looking at the achievements and challenges facing disabled athletes at all levels. Max capacity 12 people. Please note this film will run again at 2.30-3pm and 3.15-3.45.
