Roberto, a rigid idealist working for the ministry of transportation, struggles to make ends meet but pledges never to desert his homeland and looks down upon those who abandon the country. Selina, a careless expatriate brat, is working illegally in Italy and considers marrying for papers, a situation she hides from her affluent family back in Venezuela.
