- **Event Description**: An evening exploring urban design through a gender lens with International Urbanist and Author, May East.About this EventJoin us Thursday 10th September at 6pm for an inspiring and interactive evening exploring why those who shape our cities must recognise the gender imbalance and embrace a timely regenerative approach to create gender sensitive and nature positive places.A Timely Regenerative Turn for Cities That Work for AllHow can cities be greener, wilder, more liveable, co-evolving, and poetic? Join internationally renowned urbanist and UNITAR Fellow, May East for a workshop inspired by her acclaimed book What if Women Designed the City? Together we will explore how cities can be greener, wilder, more liveable, co-evolving and poetic.Rooted in the richness of women’s everyday life experiences, May’s work offers a compelling perspective on urban development through the eyes of women from diverse countries and backgrounds, revealing untapped potential grounded in the uniqueness of their neighbourhoods. Drawing on in-depth walking interviews with 274 women, her book presents 33 leverage points for how policymakers, urban professionals, and communities can intervene in planning systems - so that cities work better for women, for girls and for everyone. The conversation will be structured in three movements:1. The Context — From Deadlines to Lifelines2. Methodologies — Not Using Old Maps to Explore New Territories3. Identifying Leverage Points — Small Actions, System-Wide ImpactThe session will promote thoughtful discussion and exchange and will be followed by refreshment and networking in BDP’s Grosvenor Building studio._________________________________________________________________________________________May East is an international urbanist specialised in nature-positive and gender-sensitive cities.
