Seemingly underappreciated in the canon of Scottish authors, Agnes Owens is experiencing a posthumous revival of interest and renown for her works, of which A Working Mother is considered her crowning achievement. Described as "a hidden treasure of Scottish literature" by Douglas Stuart (take that as you will), A Working Mother expertly displays Owens' sharp wit, dark humour and lean prose.

With over a month between meetings, and at just over 150 pages long, there are no excuses for not finishing in time!
