FEATURED MUSICIAN

Sean Kennedy is a USMC veteran and currently is a Vet2Vet Specialist at the Hudson Valley National Center for Veteran Reintegration.  Sean says:   I moved around a lot as a kid. Life was chaotic and violent in ways kids shouldn’t have to understand. Music saved me. Heavy metal was my escape when everything else felt out of control. At seventeen…I bought a black Gibson Les Paul. I still have it today. I played in bands. Recorded music. Joined the Marine Corps. When I got back, I almost quit music—until I ran into an old bandmate. We started a band, and it took off. CBGBs. LeMores. Touring in 2001. Then it all fell apart.  For a long time, music wasn’t safe for my sobriety. But when I came back to it, music saved my life again. I’m a better musician sober than I ever was drunk. I’m a veteran. I help other veterans. And in 2016, I became a father—the greatest gift of my life.
