Enter the beach from Karaka Avenue for this free event.

First 40 families/groups will receive a free kite to fly with or bring your own (homemade) kite.

Free sausage sizzle.

The ‘Seven Kites of Matariki’ is the story that imagines why the stars in the cluster called Matariki can be seen in an early morning sky in mid-winter.

Historically kites were often flown at Matariki as a way of sending messages to people - living people far away and people who have died.

Mingle celebrating the natural world, the togetherness of whānau (family) and new beginnings.
