Sara’s talk using Zoom – Indonesia – Sailing from Bali to Komodo, is hosted by the RSPB Medway Local Group and shared with the RSPB Maidstone Local Group and Faversham NATS, will take place on Tuesday 6 January : -
7.15 pm: Meeting live – you can join the meeting, followed by Introduction and Group notices.
7.30 pm: The talk begins.
The talk is split into two parts of 30 minutes, allowing a 10-minute break at approx. 8.00 pm.
There is normally an opportunity at the end of the talk to ask the speaker questions.
There will be a charge of £3 per person for each talk.
This talk was postponed from November 2025: The archipelago of Indonesia comprises a staggering 17,000 islands, of which Bali and Komodo are two. This talk covers the wonderful wildlife of this remote archipelago (famously explored by the great Naturalist Alfred Wallace), much of which is encountered on Naturetrek’s exciting cruise which sails from Bali to Komodo, the latter being well-known for being home to the world’s largest species of lizard, the formidable Komodo Dragon!
Indonesia is also home to an astonishing 30 species of whales and dolphins, birds such as Red-tailed Tropicbird and the critically endangered, Yellow-crested Cockatoo. Fish include the mighty Manta Ray, and the pristine coral reefs are teeming with colourful fish.
