This is a foundation level course on carrying and using a handgun for personal protection.
Class includes legal and moral issues presentation, developing the proper mindset, and gear selection. Lecture is followed by skills evaluation and instruction on the range. A brief written exam and a live fire qualification are included.
Successful students receive a certificate of completion which satisfies Wyoming training requirements for a concealed carry license.
Students must bring a compact or larger handgun; with the holster they carry the gun in and at least one extra magazine with a pouch, or speed loader for revolver, and a cover garment. Expect to fire up to 150 rounds.
At the end of this class students will have a fundamental understanding of
- Use of force to resist criminal violence
- Legal and moral aspects of the use of force
- The importance of threat recognition before an attack begins and avoidance whenever possible
- Where a handgun can be carried and where it can not be carried
- How to choose the right gun and gear to purpose
- Rapid presentation from concealment
- Delivering accurate, accountable fire under constraint or duress
