We are thrilled to announce our next summer program: "140 Places Every Guide Should Know - Part 2" with our very own Licensed Battlefield Guide, Fred Hawthorne! Since its inception by a group of guides in the early 1990s, this invaluable list has expanded tremendously. This time, our focus will be on the historic sites located on Cemetery Hill, including both Soldiers National Cemetery and Evergreen Cemetery. Join Fred as we spend a summer’s evening strolling through these hallowed grounds, listening to fascinating tales of the battle and stories of soldiers and civilians from long ago.
Please park in the National Cemetery parking lot and meet at the Soldiers National Monument to begin our tour. Please note, the tour may be postponed due to weather, so be sure to check our Facebook page or website for any updates. If needed, our back-up date is Thursday, July 31st, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Throughout the summer, our meetings will take place on the battlefield. Be sure to check our “Further Meeting” page for details about our upcoming summer excursions. Please note that these excursions are in-person only and will not be live streamed.
These walks are a special benefit for our members, but we warmly welcome non-members to join us as well! If you aren’t a member, we kindly ask that you make a donation to our preservation fund or, even better, consider becoming a member! Please see Dave Diner or any board member at the event to make your donation.
