Hikers can choose from two hiking trails: the Nature Trail (1/2 mile) and the Turkey Run Trail (2 mile). Both hikes will begin at the Nature Center. Both trails are dirt/gravel surfaced. The Turkey Run Trail has some steeper hills and slopes. Neither trail is good for strollers. Dogs are allowed on a six foot leash.

Hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be available at the Nature Center after the hikes.

In 2026, Nebraska Game and Parks will join the nation in celebrating 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This milestone is a unique opportunity to connect Nebraskans with the state’s rich natural, cultural, and outdoor heritage. To commemorate the occasion, park staff will be handing out free 250th Anniversary First Day Hike stickers, while supplies last!

Participants should dress for the weather and remember to bring snacks and water, and binoculars, if desired. Friendly pets are allowed on a six-foot leash. A valid 2026 Nebraska state park vehicle permit is required for entry and can be purchased at the park.
