What is CyberPatriot?
CyberPatriot is an international competition is hosted by the US Air and Space Force Association, and includes hundreds of school and cadet teams from across North America. 
Teams have 3-5 members, who can be from different cadet corps or squadrons. You can also have a sixth member as a backup, and corps/squadrons can have multiple teams. The competition is completely virtual, so teams participate from their usual training location. 

How does it work?
Each team will need to secure a simulated computer system against cyber-attacks, by finding and fixing potential issues. There is also a quiz where you can test your knowledge of cybersecurity!
Your team can earn points by:
•	Identifying security vulnerabilities 
•	Configuring firewalls
•	Securing user accounts
•	Enabling software updates
The simulated computer system is called a “virtual machine." Participants download this software onto their own computers, so your team will need at least three computers that can run Windows. Just about any modern computer with at least 8GB of RAM will work - fancy gaming computers are not required!

How much time does it take?
The competition rounds take about four hours each. Each round is open for several days, so teams can compete on a schedule that works for them. That adds up to about 12 hours total in the fall, and another four hours in January for teams who qualify for the semi-finals.
