Join Sherri Lipman McCauley as she guides you into the world of painting on fabric. Explore the freedom of abstract painting with a variety of tools. With just a few gestures, you will experience the joy of creating in a serendipitous manner.
In each session, exploration will focus on applying paint on fabric to create a simple composition. Guidance will be provided in selection of tools, paint application and design.
Embellishments will be discussed, and simple hand stitching will be demonstrated. Each session will focus on a unique technique. Sign up for your favorite technique or come for all three.
- Sunday, February 22, 2-4pm. Gestural painting and stitch.
Let your creative juices flow as you guide a syringe of paint to create an abstract composition on fabric. Enhance your creation with hand stitching and prepare your work to be framed and hung on the wall.
- Sunday, March 15, 2-4pm. Mark making with everyday objects.
Discover the unique marks and designs everyday objects can create when used as painting implements. Bottle caps for circles, bubble wrap for texture, and clothes pins are some of the objects to experiment with. Using these unorthodox tools, apply painted marks to fabric to create a unique design. Push the limit of your artwork. Your final creation will be ready to be framed and hung on the wall.
- Sunday, April 19, 2-4pm. Creative painting with stencils.
Using student designed stencils made from cardboard and paper, design a small fabric composition. Push your design to the limit, incorporating paint, fabric and thread for a finished piece of art, ready to be framed and hung on the wall.
