Sandy Hazelip, from Eastland, Texas, recently retired after 40 years as a physician, specializing in geriatrics. At age 81, these two adventurous octogenarians took an around-the-world journey in just 80 days—a personal adventure between friends that unexpectedly put them on the map. They weren’t chasing fame, but the spotlight found them when their contagious message of positivity, friendship, and fearless living at any age resonated deeply and spread organically across social and traditional media. Affectionately dubbed the TikTok “traveling nanas,” Ellie and Sandy now inspire people across generations—young and old alike—and across social, political, and cultural divides throughout the United States and around the world. They co-authored the book Here We Go and have shared their story through speaking engagements both nationally and internationally.
