- **Event Description**: Georgetown Library invites the community to take part in One Book, One
Coast, a shared reading initiative connecting more than 130 library systems across
California, Oregon, and Washington.

As the largest book club on the West Coast, One Book, One Coast brings readers together
around one book to create opportunities for conversation, reflection, and meaningful
connection across neighborhoods, cities, and state lines.

El Dorado County Library and its partners will read and discuss They Called Us Enemy by
George Takei, Steven Scott, and Justin Eisinger and illustrated by Harmony Becker.
Physical copies of the book will be available to place on hold through the library and unlimited digital copies of the eBook will be available from April 1 through June 6 on the Libby app by Overdrive. Through this shared reading experience, communities are encouraged to explore themes of identity, patriotism, family, loyalty, and resilience while strengthening connections through dialogue and learning.
In addition to this graphic novel, we have compiled a selection of other books, both fiction and non-fiction, plus a book of photographs of the camps, and a movie set during that era. Stop by the Georgetown Library to view the compiled list and we can help you place holds on the items. 

Join us Thursday, May 14th at 1:00 pm for a book discussion and continue the community discussion and learning on Saturday, May 16th at 1:00 pm, Etsuko Haegele will be returning to the Georgetown Library to speak about the history of the Japanese American Incarceration Camps during WWII, including the experiences of her own family.  We hope you join us for this special event.
