SCOCC - George Old Car Show 2025, 8 February | Event in George | AllEvents About the event SCOCC - George Old Car Show 2025

Dear Esteemed Enthusiasts of Classic Cars and Motor Heritage,

It is with great pleasure that the Southern Cape Old Car Club extends to you a most cordial invitation to the 2025 George Old Car Show. Join us on Saturday, 8th February 2025, for an occasion where the beauty and elegance of classic automobiles will once again take center stage.

In its 28th splendid edition, this revered event will once more unfold against the scenic backdrop of Eden Technical High School. Here, a remarkable array of classic motorcars, motorcycles, and more from yesteryear will converge, offering a unique celebration of diverse eras and iconic marques.

This year, we are proud to present a grand tribute to the glorious heritage of British motoring. With an exclusive focus on British automotive craftsmanship, our 2025 feature will shine a spotlight on the timeless allure of Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Whether you’re bringing a treasured vintage car, motorcycle, tractor, or even a stationary engine, your contribution is invaluable to this great motoring spectacle.

While the theme pays homage to Britain’s finest, our invitation extends to all enthusiasts and clubs from across Southern Africa. We welcome you to join us in this showcase of automotive excellence that transcends borders and celebrates the unifying love of motoring history.

The main event begins on Saturday with the celebrated George Old Car Show in full swing. On Sunday, the adventure continues with the debut of the post-GOCS COGS-tour – a unique driving experience that promises memories to treasure. Please note that spaces for this tour are limited.

As tradition dictates, we invite all participants to an evening of camaraderie at the GOCS Braai, hosted at Carpe Diem School on Saturday night. We advise early booking as space is limited, with reservations available through our online motor registration portal.

For all participants and exhibitors, registration opens on 1st October 2024 via our official website, www.scocc.co.za. As part of the experience, we encourage you to share the personal stories behind your vehicles, which will be made accessible to visitors via a special QR code. Note that security will be provided until 12:00 on Sunday the 9th of February for anyone wanting to leave their cars overnight.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at aW5mbyB8IHNjb2NjICEgY28gISB6YQ== or via SMS at 076 764 0897.

About The Host:
As the nearest old car clubs were in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, it was decided by several enthusiasts in George to start a club in this area. A group of nine old car owners and enthusiasts held an inaugural meeting on 3 June 1988, and so the Southern Cape Old Car Club was born. A sum of R35 was collected to cover initial stationery and postage costs! Under the auspices of the Eastern Province Veteran Car Club to begin with, the club held monthly outings for the ever-growing number of members. Soon we were accepted by SAVVA and became an independent club. Our constitution was drafted and sent to members, and plans were made to design a club logo. Annelise Bezuidenhout submitted the winning design in a competition amongst members. The newsletter was called "The Spanner", and was distributed regularly as were monthly notices detailing outings and events. The most popular of events was the sponsored annual Delta Rally. In 1995 two members, Mike Roumanoff and Robin Meeks organized the SAVVA Nedbank Post 45 National rally, for the SCOCC, which was a spider rally starting at the Ashmead resort in Knysna. A total of 85 vehicles took part in the event which proved to be very successful. In 1996, they again organized the SAVVA Nedbank Vintage & Post Vintage National Rally for the SCOCC, this event started in Mosselbay at the Santos Protea Hotel and ended at the Far Hills Hotel in George. A total of 68 vehicles took part in this successful event. In 2001 the first Rag Top Tour was organized under the auspices the SCOCC and Mike & Robin have continued to organize these runs for our club on a biannual basis which are always over subscribed. In 1997 the SCOCC organized the first George Old Car Show, which was held on a smallholding. This popular annual event has developed during the years into a major display of approximately 700 vehicles. Two of the original founder members are currently serving on the SCOCC Committee and the membership has grown to approximately 180 families. Cars are classified according to when they were built: Classification When built ∙ Antique Prior to December 31st 1904 ∙ Veteran Between January 1905 & December 31st 1918 ∙ Vintage Between January 1919 & December 31st 1930 ∙ Post Vintage Between January 1931 & December 31st 1945 ∙ Post 1945 Between January 1946 & December 31st 1960 ∙ Post 1960 Between January 1961 & December 31st 1980
