Fred Angst aka Gerry Vergult is een fenomeen in de Belgische rockmuziek. Hij begon met The End, maar richtte later samen met Elvis Peeters het legendarische Aroma Di Amore op. Deze cultband bestond van 1982 tot 2022, bracht talloze platen uit en toerde door heel Europa, met een schare trouwe fans tot gevolg. Daarnaast speelde hij in diverse bands, componeerde hij voor film en theater, en producete hij voor andere artiesten.
Na heel wat releases is Angst nu klaar om zijn eerste solo-fullalbum uit te brengen.
Marcel Vanthilt (Arbeid Adelt!), Sietse Willems (Meltheads), Jonathan Vervaeck (Geitenvel/Bonakar), Bart Timmermans (Kregel, Vandal X, Flipo Mancini), Nel Mertens (Nel & JP) en Janis Van Coppenolle (Nimbus Cart) leenden hun stem aan de nummers, maar ook ex-kompanen Elvis Peeters en Lo Meulen zijn te horen op enkele tracks. Muzikaal kreeg hij verder de steun van Philippe Gunst (Fragment) en JP De Brabander (Looplizard, Delavega) op gitaar, Butsenzeller (A Clean Kitchen Is A Happy Kitchen, Stovepipe, Zool., Scoundrels) op drums, Luc Waegeman op bas, en Roos Janssens (Capsule, De Kift, WOO) op saxofoon.
Muzikaal gaat Angst nog een stapje verder op de met Aroma Di Amore ingeslagen weg: eigenzinnige, snedige post-wave, met de sound van vandaag, maar ook met een stevige knipoog naar de jaren 80.

NIMBUS CART

Nimbus Cart is een Gentse band die begrepen heeft dat het nooit te laat is om de handschoen op te nemen. Weliswaar zijn het protestliederen die hand in hand gaan met melodie. Frontvrouw Janis Vancoppenolle is dan wel de gedroomde furieuze antigif voor overspannen alfamannetjes, maar ze weet ook dat je het publiek alleen maar kan bereiken met een goed geschreven song.
Samen met gitarist Steven Govaere, Eduard Lathioor op bas en Lukas Carlier op drums wordt gekozen voor een nineties-sound, maar nooit klinkt het belegen. Hole en Bikini K*ll loeren altijd wel om de hoek en deze twee pijlers zijn voor ons meer dan voldoende om dit aan te stippen als tip. Marcel Vanthilt is fan, wij ook.

MAQUILLAGE

Maquillage, opgericht in België in 2022 door Gioia Podestà en Nick Symoens, mengt shoegaze, postpunk en dreampop tot een breekbaar maar scherp geluid. Na hun EP Kabuki Brush (2024) en optredens door heel Europa bracht het duo in 2025 hun debuutalbum ArMOR uit.
