About Elastos
Elastos is the world’s first Internet operating system focusing on re-decentralizing Internet with blockchain to secure identity. Utilizing the Internet as the base-layer infrastructure rather than as an application, the Elastos approach emphasizes that network communications should be separated from application computing, and prohibits apps from direct access to the network to prevent viruses and other malicious attacks such as DDoS.
In development for over 18 years, Elastos has engineered the world’s first secure and decentralized platform, backed by a revolutionary open source operating system written in C++. Elastos is capable of providing unparalleled security for self-driving cars, AR/VR platforms, Internet of things devices, smartphones, smart routers and more. Additionally, decentralized applications run in a sandbox environment called Elastos Runtime which can be run from any mobile device. Elastos creates a virtual ecosystem where decentralized applications are protected from direct access to the internet while allowing for the scalability to manage billions of potential users and interactions.
Elastos is an open source system with over 4 million lines of original source code, and has received significant investment from the Foxconn Group, NEO, and other industry giants for its R&D. Supporting programming in C/C++, Java, and HTML/JS, Elastos facilitates the new generation of universal apps running anywhere, including AR/VR headsets, IoT gateways, PCs, and cloud servers.

Speakers
Chen RongFounder of Elastos and Director of Tsinghua University iCentre

Rong is a professor for postgraduate modules in Cyber Intelligent Economy andBlockchain at Tsinghua University. He is also one of the most respected Tsinghua alumni. Rong worked at Microsoft from 1992 to 2000. During his time there, he led the teams of Microsoft Research OS, IE3 ActiveX, Ole Automation, .COM, and .NET. He proposed various new ideas on the technology of Operating Systems 30 years ago, but failed to see progress until the launch of Windows 10 and the development of blockchain. It was now possible to make an OS environment safer and more efficient. When he left Microsoft, Rong started working on the Elastos OS. Over the years, Elastos was financially supported by Foxconn, the Chinese Central Government, Tsinghua University, and most recently, a pre-ICO. Rong had been invited by the former Premiere of China to speak at the Great Hall of the People about his work on Operating Systems.

Kevin ZhangHead of the Elastos Developers Community
Kevin Zhang graduated from Tsinghua University, Beijing, in 1994, with a B.Eng degree. He has dedicated most of his life to software, besides being a full-stack developer, he is also a serial entrepreneur, has worked 5 years as a professional music producer and another 5 years as a consultant on Business Intelligence solutions, Big data and Telecommunication. His last job position before becoming part of the Elastos team was the CTO role for iHealth Labs in the US.
