An official side event at the 79th World Health Assembly.About this EventAbout the eventIn 2021, the WHO launched the Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH), now bringing together over 100 health systems across the world. Yet, despite this momentum, a critical gap remains: carbon footprint data are currently available for less than 1% of the approximately 2 million medical products used globally, and no independent platform exists to harmonise the evidence clinicians and policymakers need to act.The Lancet MedZero – a new, global platform born from a collaboration between The Lancet and some of the world’s leading health and research institutions – offers an answer.At this official side event, we will discuss how the Lancet MedZero tackles one of sustainable healthcare's most pressing challenges. The session will feature a live demonstration of how the platform equips health professionals and policymakers with robust carbon data across pharmaceuticals, devices, diagnostics, and care pathways – alongside perspectives from health system leaders across the world on what it takes to turn that data into real-world transformation.This event is being organised by the Lancet MedZero, The Lancet, Philippine Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health Thailand, NHS England, and Médecins Sans Frontières.Attendance is free.
