Das Ruhrgebiet ist eine der großen Wirtschaftsregionen in Europa mit rund 5,0 Millionen EinwohnerInnen sowie rund 45.000 KünstlerInnen und Kreativen und 10.300 Firmen der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft (Quelle: Potenziale der Kreativwirtschaft in der Metropole Ruhr).Nach der Kulturhauptstadt Europas RUHR.2010 wurde das european centre for creative economy (ecce) gegründet, um Freiräume sowie Arbeits- und Lebensräume für KünstlerInnen und Kreative in den Städten, in der Wirtschaft und in den Hochschulen des Ruhrgebiets zu stärken. Auch europäische Potenziale und Förderungen sollen zugänglicher werden. Dies erfolgt im Rahmen von Projekten, die durch das Ministerium für Kultur und Wissenschaft des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, das Ministerium für Wirtschaft, Innovation, Digitalisierung und Energie des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen sowie das Ministerium für Heimat, Kommunales, Bau und Gleichstellung des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen finanziert werden.Für die Zukunft gilt es – trotz und gerade wegen des Bevölkerungsrückgangs – den Lebens- und Wirtschaftsraum Ruhrgebiet vielfältig und entwicklungsoffen zu halten: Dabei kann auf KünstlerInnen und Kreative als Impulsgeber und Innovationsmotor in ökonomischer wie kultureller Hinsicht nicht verzichtet werden.  ENGLISH:The Ruhr region is one of the largest economic regions in Europe, with a population of around 5 million, including around 45,000 artists and creative minds, and 10,300 companies in the cultural and creative industries (source: Potenziale der Kreativwirtschaft in der Metropole Ruhr).The european centre for creative economy (ecce) was founded after the period as European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 to consolidate free spaces and work and living spaces for artists and creative minds in towns and cities, in the economy and in the universities in the Ruhr region. European potentials and grants are to be made more accessible. This takes place in the framework of projects that are financed by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation and Digitisation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Ministry for Regional Identity, Communities and Local Government, Building and Gender Equality of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.For the future, it is important – in spite of, and more explicitly because of demographic decline – to keep the living and economic environment of the Ruhr diverse and open to development: in this process it is not possible to do without artists and creative minds as initiators and motors for innovation from an economic and cultural aspect.ecce wird gefördert vom // ecce is funded by:Ministerium für Kultur und Wissenschaft des Landes NRWRegionalverband Ruhr (RVR)
