Deneka brings to you for one night only their second concept album ‘Three Witches’. The Oratorio, performed live, contains three tales: three travellers and their mythic quests through scenes and summons both romantic and colossal to meet and ultimately face the Witches.
With humble roots in the styles of Leonard Cohen and The Seekers, the sound is corrupted and the hall flooded with riffage and resonant drones akin to Black Sabbath and Wolfmother. Glimmers and flutters of pious and tranquil Pink-Floyd-esque drones and melodies written for churches and chambers will break up the sludge.
Deneka are Jordan Deneka on guitar and vocals, Raami on bass, Matt Barber on guitar and synth, and Milo Emmanuel on percussion.
Written to lull and shock the listener, Deneka are playing their album adapted for concert from start to finish with only stops for tea along the way.
They are joined by special guests Translucid, a collective of composers whose expertise is spontaneity, who use their multi-instrumentalist sensibilities to take the listener on a sonic journey, adapting and combining their expressions of all things melody, harmony, rhythm and texture.
Hold on to your socks, friends.
This performance will take place on the stolen lands of the Wadawurrung People. Deneka, Translucid and CoupdeCloudRecordings acknowledge these people as rightful owners of the region, and we pay respects to all First Nations' Elders past, present and emerging. We believe in land rights, human rights, and treaty. Always was, Always will be, Aboriginal Land.
