He first heard one about 10 years ago, but it wasn't the right time to embark on the journey until one day he saw Malte Marten on youtube and immediately felt drawn to the innovations and scales that were being created.He originally had a foraging background teaching and living a lifestyle around wild food and nature but he found himself itching for something else, something where he could express himself without words and provide a little joy, inspiration and peace to the world - and that is when he finally made his mind up that it was time to buy a handpan!In less than a year he was immersed in this world and advanced quickly into becoming a competent player, performer, teacher and now builder (helping his friend at Acero Harmonics and learning to build handpans for himself).WHAT TO EXPECTSomething that Richard always comes back to, whether it is foraging, nature, handpan and music is 'community and connection' and 'creating space'. Over his journey bringing the handpan into public places through busking, festivals or simply playing around friends, he soon noticed the magical changes in the atmosphere where the sound vibrations of this beautiful instrument radiated through our hearts and our souls.His desire is to create space, to create a place for people to simply be and connect in a way that we cannot in a busy working life. He sees the handpan as not neccisarily a 'focus', but as an instigator, a way towards relaxing our walls, lowering our guards, stilling our minds, and allowing us to feel a moment of peace admist a crazy non-stop and stressful modern world.The 'concert' will be an informal gathering. A simple and intimate meeting in a tipi by a lake surrounded by trees, water and nature. He hopes to provide you with a sensory soundbath of handpan vibrations to help you relax, wind down and enjoy some time to be still surrounded by wildlife.After an improvised performance, you would all be welcome to chat with one another, socialise and potentially have a go on one of his handpans.It is a space for you, a space for community and a space to heal the roots that have been severed by a disconnected and often superficial society.He looks forward to meeting you, and welcoming you join him for a magical afternoon.TERMS OF SALE:A minimum of 5 tickets must be sold for the event to go ahead. If there is not enough sales you will be offered to move to a date with other people or a full refund will be issued through eventbrite if the event is cancelled.NO REFUNDS if the event does go ahead if more than 5 tickets are sold. In the event of an emergency situation, you can move your ticket to another date or a refund may be offered, minus any eventbrite or transaction fees as I cannot recoup those.PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME - preferably just before12pm because there is a small walk to the venue and gates will be locked. If you do not arrive on time and you are unable to enter the premesis there will be NO REFUNDS.WHAT TO BRING:Suitable footwear. Depending on the weather it may be a little muddy on the way to the tipi by the lake.Suitable clothes. If the weather is colder, please bring clothes to stay warm as we will be in an outside environment for 2 hours.Your own comfortable seating like folding chairs or blankets.
