We’re thrilled to welcome Anne Borowicz, Master Gardener from Boyne City and longtime Lilac Docent for Mackinac Island. Anne brings experience caring for the island’s legendary lilacs — some more than 150 years old. 🌿💜
She’ll share how lilacs first arrived on Mackinac Island in the 1800s, why the island’s cool lake breezes and limestone soils help them thrive, and how these heirloom shrubs connect to the island’s rich history — especially as Mackinac prepares for America’s 250th Anniversary in 2026 ✨.
