It’s time for the February 2026 edition of the Gaston FolkSing at the Gaston Pour House!  

We will gather, as we always do every month on the evening of the third Thursday, to share our songs, tunes, readings, stories, toasts, jokes, rude limericks and each other’s company.  It’s not a concert night, but rather, a shared folk experience.  And the Pour House has plenty of soft drinks, wines, beers, ciders, cocktails, coffee drinks, and lovely foods to make it a full and complete evening.  

Every month, we celebrate two or three optional themes to make it interesting.  

THEME, THE FIRST…  Because of its very nature, the FOLK GENRE is a very broad one that finds itself crossing over into so many other genres, including ROCK, COUNTRY,HIP-HOP, POPULAR MEDIA, ADVERTISING, TELEVISION, CINEMA, et cetera.  Share songs that have BROKEN THE NORMAL BOUNDARIES of what we think of as “folk music”.

THEME, THE SECOND… In honor of the Roman festival of FEBRUALIA (the festival of purification and cleansing) we will give attention to songs and stories of FIGHTING AGAINST TYRANNY AND INJUSTICE.

THEME, THE THIRD… In celebration of THE FEAST OF SAINT VALENTINE, think of songs about AFFECTION, ROMANCE, LOVE, RELATIONSHIPS, and HOOK-UPS. 

So… think about your possible themes, bring your money for food, drink, and tips, bring your music, songs, and instruments, and bring your friends!  All are welcome, theme or not!
