The benefits of mindfulness and meditation are well studied, and we know that living mindfully and practicing meditation can help you feel more relaxed, reduce the effects of stress, decrease anxiety, and improve focus. But what exactly does it mean to be mindful? And how do you begin a meditation practice? In this first class, we’ll define these practices, learn how to cultivate our awareness and explore the practice of non-judgment. We’ll also learn the basics of how to meditate, including breath-focused and listening meditations. Bring a towel, yoga mat, or folding chair for your comfort. Also, you may want to bring a journal, pen and water bottle.
