- **Event Description**: Come learn from an experienced beekeeper, Jade.  In class we'll cover all aspects of the first year of beekeeping: from buying bees, picking equipment, getting through summer, and preparing for winter.  With a focus on honeybee health and building a strong knowledge base on the honeybee lifecycle, you will leave feeling confident and ready to do your first hive checks.

On top of a full day of instruction, participants will be provided with refreshments, printed materials, and an apiary experience at the end of the class.  There will also be a lunch-on-your-own break.

Class participants should wear solid jeans and closed-toe shoes for the hive experience. If you have leather gloves, please bring them.

Anyone can register, but if you are under 16 you will need to register with an adult.  The cost is $50 per person for non-members and $45 per person for GPMS members.  If there is no one registered for class approximately 24 hours in advance, class may be cancelled.
