10 Week Program: Intro to Salsa Dancing

Over the course of ten, 1.5 hour sessions, you will learn the basics needed to get you social dancing. This special program is a fun group experience, designed for people who are brand new to salsa to be able to make consistent progress together. This class will be taught using NY style salsa, (salsa on2), which is the most popular type of salsa in the world today.

Over the course of the 10 weeks (15 hours of training) you will learn:

- How to find the beat and count your steps in salsa music
- The basic step, the foundation of salsa dancing
- How to lead or follow and maintain connection with your dance partner
- Simple turns
- The cross body lead
- Basic partnerwork turn patterns you can use on the dance floor
- Basic Latin body movement, and basic footwork (shines)

We will rotate partners regularly during the classes, so no partner is needed in order to enroll. At the end of each class we'll offer a summary that you can record in order to practice at home.
