- **Event Description**: On December 19th, celebrate environmental education and enjoy camaraderie with fellow friends of the Lost Coast with a free showing of the beautifully-crafted documentary “In Our Nature” on Friday, December 19th from 5:30-7:30PM at the Redwood Playhouse in Garberville. “In Our Nature” is a 60-minute documentary directed by James Parker and co-produced with Juliet Grable that explores how nature-based education can help us reconnect in a time of rising loneliness, political division, and environmental uncertainty. 

Through three powerful stories – from a flower farm on Chicago’s South Side, to a forest school in rural Kentucky, to a healing-in-nature program for military families in San Antonio – the film reveals how connection to the natural world can bridge divides, strengthen communities, and support youth mental health. Both urgent and hopeful, “In Our Nature” shows why access to nature isn’t a luxury, but essential to what it means to be human.

Doors open at 5:30PM with a FOLC open-house and live folk music by The Cronies featuring local musicians Jessie Modic, Jeanne York & Nella White playing classical instruments including baritone, ukulele, fiddle and bass. FOLC merchandise will also be available – making this a great place to pick up a gift for a nature lover in your life. Warm winter beverages, and delicious pizza from Oakfire Pizza will add to the holiday cheer – followed by the film from 6:30-7:30pm.
