- **Event Description**: If you’ve missed it in past years, IPW is a multi-day free family event to honour Indigenous Arts and Culture and create opportunities for settlers to meet their Indigenous neighbours and explore and celebrate Indigenous culture on Salt Spring Island.

Events this year will include our beautiful tipi-raising Opening Ceremony; the Quw’utstun Cultural Connections' amazing immersive exhibit Thu-it (pronounced tah-EET), which gives a walk-through experience of Quw’utsun history; an Indigenous crafts market; a Métis puppeteer and storytellers of many Nations; a hula-and-history presentation by our Kanaka (Hawaiian) Salt Springers; craft workshops for the whole family, a silent auction to support the Q’ushin’tul' (Walking Together) Ancestors Walk event; our annual community potluck feast honouring our Elders; and lots of great Indigenous musicians and dancers on stage throughout the days and into the evening. And of course every day will start with an Elder welcoming us and sharing some of their wisdom.
