"My work is an exploration of "ecotones"—the vibrant, living transition zones where two distinct environments, such as the forest and the sea, meet and overlap. In nature, these overlapping edges are where biodiversity flourishes. Similarly, my art explores the edges where the internal human experience meets the external world.

When I moved to Canada in my early twenties, I entered a period of transition, crossing from one culture into the vastness of another. During that time, family, fellow immigrants, my ESL teachers, and the beauty and scale of the Canadian landscape became the support ecosystems that sustained me. Through figurative work, landscapes, semi-abstract nature, and still life, I trace these boundaries. I look for where representation fades into abstraction, where the solid weight of a figure softens into the space around it, and where the boundary between sky and water merges. To me, nature is the original equalizer. Regardless of who we are, where we come from, or our personal journeys of migration, the forest and the sea ground us all in the exact same human experience. My art is an invitation to pause in these transitional spaces, recognizing that at the edge of every boundary lies beauty, growth, and a shared connection to the earth." MVM


This solo exhibition is being hosted on the unceded, asserted & shared traditional territories of Penelakut, Lamalcha, Hwlitsum and other Hul’qumi’num and SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples, Coast Salish Peoples of Galiano, as well as the ceded territories of Tsawwassen First Nation, on what is now known as Galiano Island.
