UF/IFAS Agricultural Data Use & Privacy Summit

AI can transform many aspects of our life — privacy is one of them. Data privacy, security, algorithms and ethical use of AI are interwoven. Unethical uses undermine the potential of AI to improve social progress and humankind. As a leading institution in AI innovation, the University of Florida fanatically protects data from Shands patients to IFAS growers. It is never early enough to protect data at the speed of AI. To deliver on this ambition IFAS leadership has commissioned a workshop centered around data: collection, curation, privacy, protection, and use.

The UF/IFAS Agricultural Data Use & Privacy Summit will bring together researchers, producers, industry representatives, and data experts to explore challenges and opportunities in agricultural data use and protection. Through talks and moderated panels, participants will discuss stakeholder concerns, share lessons from both agricultural and non-agricultural sectors, and highlight UF’s strengths in data curation, protection, and responsible use. This summit marks an important step toward strengthening trust in UF’s data practices, developing clear institutional guidance on data security and sharing, and building a foundation for future consensus on best practices in agricultural data governance.

Registration Details:
The summit will be offered in a hybrid format, with in-person attendance limited to 40 participants and no limit for virtual attendees. Registration will remain open until November 20, 2025.
