- **Event Description**: ? A special fundraising event to support Snuneymuxw First Nation and other Coast Salish First Nation members travelling on the Tribal Journey to Niqually, WA, this July. A fun, family friendly event when everyone can get out to paddle in the Bay in a real Journey Canoe, eat lunch (BBQ Salmon and Gabriola greens) together at the park, participate in Coast Salish protocol and cultural stories, songs and dances together, and build community.

? Tribal Journeys revives an ancient Coast Salish tradition: Indigenous communities traveling every summer in large journey canoes to different communities to renew kinship ties, trade food, share protocol and gifts. Since 2001, the revival of this annual event on the west coast has empowered youth, families and elders to reclaim their heritage by participating in a 10-day to 2 week journ?ey in an open canoe, visiting and sharing protocol in the Coastal communities along their way to a final destination, where 1000s of canoes land together for a celebration. This year’s destination is Nisqually, WA. 

? This family-friendly event is an opportunity to connect and learn about Coast Salish culture, and can be a step toward reconciliation.

10 am - Event registration begins
10:30 Welcome, Snuneymuxw elder Gary Manson
11 am Teachings and Paddle 1
12 pm Lunch and Connection, BBQ Salmon & Gabriola Greens (Watercliff Farm)
1 pm Teachings, songs and dances 
2 pm Paddle 2
3 pm Raffle draw for Farmers Market baskets

(The Gabriola Island Land Stewards Society is the sponsoring organization so that 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the Munu Canoe Family.)
