Since 2015, Islands by Art Center Caravel has explored contemporary artistic practices connected to island territories, memory, ecology, and landscape.
For the 2026 edition, we turn toward the ground itself.

Soil & Terra will explore soil as memory, pigment, archive, and living ecosystem through installations, natural pigments, recycled materials, sound, and participatory artistic practices developed together with artists, local communities, seniors, children, and international collaborators.

This year we are also happy to introduce one of the exhibition curators — Joze Zyberchema, artist, photographer, and cultural practitioner deeply connected to Madeira’s public art and ecological landscape.
