Join us as we introduce brand new students to our Kali-Silat Program on Saturday, February 28th at 9:00AM.
Kali-Silat is an ancient martial art that combines two traditional styles from the Philippines and Southeast Asia. It primarily focuses on weapon-based fighting (including sticks and bladed weapons). Specifically, Kali focuses on hand-to-hand combat and weapon disarming. Silat focuses on the movements of the lower body, and includes strikes, joint manipulation, throws, and bladed weaponry.
KMK Hockley Kali-Silat is a system developed by Grandmaster Anthony Hockley of Adelaide, Australia. It’s a realistic self-defense program that can help develop speed, agility, timing, and body mechanics.
Similar to the taekwondo system, this program is a full-fledged belt advancement program (meaning: history, educational concepts, and modern application of ancient Kali-Silat principles will be required to be retained for advancement to black belt level).
The class is led by four main instructors: Master Rando, Master Dolchan, Sensei Blubaugh, and Master Junior Rando.
