Learn to Make a Scrappy Bear Paw

Join us on Saturday, September 6th from 10 am – 2 pm to learn to make the Bear Paw Quilt Block. A classic quilt block resembling a bear's paw, it contains smaller blocks referred to as "paw prints" which are arranged in a pattern. The block has been popular since the 19th century and is associated with themes of friendship and companionship. It is a very versatile and popular block that is great for both beginners and experienced quilters. In this class you will be given several size options as well as several different variations on the Bear Paw Block so you will have options to make other quilts or wall hangings after learning this block.

You will have the option of making this quilt as a traditional quilt prepared for a longarm quilter or as a Quilt As You Go (QAYG). A QAYG refresher class will be offered on Sunday, September 28 at 1-3:30 pm. In this class you will learn (or relearn) all you need to put together a Quilt as You Go quilt. Registration for this class is separate from the Bear Paw class.

· Class Only - includes instructions to learn to make the Bear Paw Quilt Block as well as patterns for variations on this block $69 Supply List and cutting instructions will be provided upon registration. (No refunds will be given once the supply list and cutting instructions are sent out.) If you register for this option and want a truly scrappy look to your quilt you can purchase “scrap blocks”, you’ll need 192 of these, at The Studio on the day of the class for a nominal fee.

· Class + Fabric Kit for Quilt Top – includes instructions to learn to make the Bear Paw Quilt Block as well as patterns for variations on this block and fabric to make a 56”x74” quilt top. (Kit does NOT include batting or backing fabric). $129

· Class + Fabric Kit for Wall Hanging - includes instructions to learn to make the Bear Paw Quilt Block as well as patterns for variations on this block and fabric to make a 25”x25” wall hanging . (Kit does NOT include batting or backing fabric). $89
