Amazing Grace: The Lost Performance
Witness Aretha Franklin as you’ve never seen her before in this electrifying concert film, Amazing Grace.
In January 1972, the Queen of Soul returned to her roots to record her best-selling gospel album live at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Watts, LA, backed by the Southern California Community Choir.
Though the sessions were captured on film, the original director, Sydney Pollack, made the crucial mistake of not using a clapperboard. This technical error made it impossible to synchronize the audio and video, leading the footage to be shelved in the Warner Bros. vaults for decades.
It wasn't until 2007 that producer Alan Elliott acquired the raw film and used modern digital technology to painstakingly fix the synchronization and finally complete the movie.
Experience this long-lost cinematic treasure—a powerful love letter to the Black Church and a testament to Aretha’s unmatched talent and faith.
