He has previously served in key positions at Chung Tai Chan Monastery’s Buddhist Hospice Support Center, the Men’s Buddhist Institute, and the Novice Monk School. In the United States, he also held important roles at Buddha Gate Monastery in California, Chung Tai Zen Center of Sunnyvale, and Chung Tai Zen Center of Houston.Before ordaining, he worked as a biomedical engineer. Although modern medicine and medical technology continue to advance, he observed that the number of hospitalized patients remained high. This led him to once again reflect deeply on the nature of birth, aging, sickness, and death.After taking refuge under Grand Master Wei Chueh, he came to understand the Buddhist teaching: “Illness arises from karma, and karma arises from the mind.” To truly resolve the suffering of life and death, one must address the root causes—our habitual thoughts and intentions.
