During the day he tirelessly serves the tourist hordes alongside his fellow college students, the Yellowstoners. But once night falls, the park becomes a psychedelic wonderland fueled by drugs and alcohol. Stunned by the natural landscape, Jack embraces young love, but this innocent summer idyll is threatened by his growing addiction. With a few friends guiding him towards sobriety, Jack must grapple with whether he can reclaim his relationships, salvage his love life, and ultimately save himself.

My name is August West. I grew up in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, and moved to Colorado for college and never left. When I'm not shaking the hellhounds off my heels, I live, work, and thrive through all seasons in the majestic mountains of Colorado.  I just published my first novel, Yellowstoned, a darkly comic coming-of-age tale where college kids, aptly dubbed The Yellowstoners, chase freedom, love, and self-discovery beneath the wild skies of Yellowstone. The Yellowstoners stumble through booze, drugs, romance, and heartbreak in a whirlwind of beauty, chaos, and untamed youth.  In the '90s, I published Front Range Fatties: The Best Mountain Biking Trails in Colorado's Front Range. I also continue to publish short story fiction such as "The Bramble Element of Surprise."
