There’s something about this time of year that naturally pulls people inward.

Maybe it’s the colder mornings. Maybe it’s the pace slowing down after the first half of the year. Or maybe it’s just that by June, most of us have been carrying a lot for longer than we realised.

I’ve always loved the feeling of midwinter. Not because it’s dramatic or symbolic, but because it quietly asks us to stop for a moment and take stock of where we are.

In the Māori tradition, this season is known as Matariki. A time connected to remembrance, reflection, gratitude, and looking ahead with greater intention.

I think there’s wisdom in that.

Most people spend the year reacting to life as it happens. Keeping up with work, responsibilities, relationships, pressure, noise. Then suddenly months have passed and they haven’t really checked in with themselves at all.

This event is designed to create space for that pause.

Not in a heavy or overly spiritual way. Just a genuine opportunity to slow down, settle the nervous system a little, and reconnect with what feels important moving into the second half of the year.

The afternoon will include guided reflection, conversation around the themes of Matariki, and an immersive sound journey using voice, frequency and ancestral instruments.

Some people leave these events feeling emotional. Some leave feeling clear. Some simply feel rested for the first time in a while.

There’s no right way to experience it.
