Join us for the opening of Dreaming in Farsi, a new solo exhibition by Perth-based Australian–Iranian artist Yasamin Khadembashi (she/her).

Rooted in the lived experiences and cultural memory of the Iranian diaspora, Yasamin’s practice delves into themes of identity, displacement, censorship, and the resilience of women and queer communities within—and beyond—SWANA contexts. Her works combine meticulous mark-making with a distinctive piping technique that introduces sculptural texture and depth, resulting in pieces that feel both intimate and boldly declarative.

This exhibition invites viewers into a space where personal narrative and collective history intertwine, offering moments of reflection, connection, and conversation.

We are honoured to begin the evening with a Welcome to Country by Aunty Liz Hayden, acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather and paying respect to their enduring cultural presence.
