Sakura Blue Studios is proud to present the Writers of the Realm Literary Festival & Fantasy Ball - A yearly event showcasing local authors, writers, panel discussions, workshops, readings, interactive vendors and guest appearances.
No matter if you're an aspiring writer, an established author, a screenwriter, a publisher or just a huge fan of all things books!
Our festival has something for everyone!
At the Writers of the Realm, we welcome all genres of writing!
We also encourage our local authors to provide a short reading of their books so guests can enjoy and get a taste of their work!
We'll have interactive exhibits and raffle draws for the fans, a book-ish/author scavenger hunt, and educational panels/workshops that answer those annoying questions in your mind about writing or your fav books! Our Day portion is open to the public of all ages, with door proceeds going to a local charity. (to be announced soon!)
Literary Event Portion runs 10am - 5pm
Our Serenity Ball (Fantasy Book-sh Ball) runs 7:30pm-Midnight!
The evening entertainment for this festival is our spectacular Fantasy Bookish Ball! This year the theme is ethereal/celestial, which we are calling the Serenity Ball!
Note: Serenity Ball Tickets go on sale: January 16th, 2026.
(Ticket link for the public will be posted here on this event page when it goes live) But authors/vendors who get accepted into our festival will get a chance to purchase their tickets early with their table fee for a discounted rate!
About the Fantasy Ball: Imagine stepping into the pages of your favourite fantasy novel—where flowing gowns, enchanted settings, and beloved book characters come to life. A Fantasy Bookish Ball is a magical formal gathering for readers and dreamers alike, where fans dress as iconic characters or in whimsical, literary-inspired attire. With dancing, themed decor, and shared love for all things fantasy, these events are sweeping the nation, turning bookworms into ballroom royalty. ✨But... if you don't want to dress up as a character or a fantasy-themed look and would prefer to just come in general formal attire, you're more than welcome to! Please note this portion of the festival is a ticketed event, formal attire required, 19+ and sure to be an enchanting evening of dancing, oracle readings, contests, delightful desserts, and so much more featuring DJ Fayder from Halifax!!!

Please be sure to use the correct form when applying to our festival! You are either an Author or a general Vendor. This event is author-driven, and general vendor tables will be limited and curated towards crafters/businesses that fit our theme. If you are a bookstore, publisher or association, please also use the vendor form to apply. If you are a mystical vendor with items that could be geared towards our Fantasy Ball and would like to have your table stay out during our Fantasy Ball event, please reach out to us by email once you have completed the vendor application. There will be an additional cost of $25 to be part of our evening entertainment, but only a few businesses will be selected and if you are vending at our Fantasy Ball you will be required to dress as the rest of the guest attendintg the Ball to fit our theme.
