This invitation to this Exhibition aligns fully with our desire to draw upon the diverse expertise in our province. ​This exhibition embraces a range of work featuring four artists – all with very diverse approaches and concerns, but also with intriguing interconnections. This exhibition continues our important focus on contemporary art with artists who explore the technical and conceptual characteristics of visual art. Marc Cyr (b. in Moncton) is a Canadian artist. He currently lives in Montreal but was previously living in Halifax and Moncton. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction from Mt. Allison in 1990 and BEd art ed specialist at NSCAD 2005. Cyr exhibited throughout Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario, and Detroit. He won numerous Canada Council and NB arts awards. He was also a part of Aberdeen Cultural Centre, and director of Galerie Sans Nom in the past.He specializes in sculpture, set design, installation, painting, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Margaux Khoury is a Canadian artist living in Fredericton NB. Margaux’s art is inspired by the joyful themes of her childhood and her experiences in nature, particularly in British Columbia and New Brunswick. She's also influenced by her rich Lebanese heritage. Margaux often paints from the perspective of her children, infusing her work with an innocence and joy that resonates with viewers, bringing a sense of ​vintage happiness through her art April Pyne’s abstract geometric paintings are informed by a childhood spent in Brooklyn, New York. Pyne has studied the language of abstraction looking to past modern masters and spent a summer studying sculpture at Cooper Union in New York. ; ​Her geometric shapes like buildings against an expanse of sky, unexpected moments of natural beauty, texture reminiscent of earth, stones and pavement, fragments like stained glass from her grandfather’s church. She makes her home in Canada and lives in Moncton, NB with her husband. She has been a recipient of a New Brunswick Arts Board Creation Grant. Her work has been seen in “The Globe and Mail”, and “The Times and Telegraph”. Raina Spalding is a painter and University of New Brunswick Alum, holding a BBA and Certificate in Management in Arts and Culture (CMAC). Her pieces are inspired by everyday scenes, vintage photographs . She focuses on the contrast, shadows and colours of scenes rather than precise details. Raina was introduced to Gallery on Queen as part of the Youth for Youth art exhibition put on by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery.
