The Cool Kids Club House Our goal is to establish a safe, dedicated space where our members can: • Practice essential life skills such as cooking and laundry. • Learn through a specialized IDD adult curriculum developed and taught by volunteer special education professionals. • Participate in social, recreational, and volunteer activities that promote friendship, confidence, and independence. 3. Long-Term Shared Living Model Beyond programming, our long-term dream is to create a shared-living community that offers both independence and safety for adults with special needs. Currently, many individuals live in scattered housing situations, which can lead to isolation and vulnerability. Our model envisions an apartment-style community with shared common areas in an environment where residents can support, advocate for, and look out for one another in a supervised, empowering setting. We also hope to integrate this model with an assisted living program for the elderly, bringing two communities with complementary needs together. • Many older adults experience loneliness and would benefit greatly from the warmth, empathy, and companionship of adults with special needs. • Meanwhile, our special needs community, often eager for a sense of purpose, would find fulfillment in helping care for and connect with seniors. This approach would also help keep families together when aging parents are no longer able to care for their adult children, easing the transition and ensuring continued emotional support within a loving community.
