- **Event Name**: 72 Film Fest 2026
- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 16 Oct, 2026 at 06:00 pm – Sat, 17 Oct, 2026 at 11:59 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: Year 21!

Lights. Camera. Chaos! Or should we say…FUN!

The annual 72 Film Fest returns to the Weinberg Center for Year 21, and the pressure is still the same: teams of filmmakers have just 72 Hours to write, shoot, and edit a complete short film from scratch. The theme and criteria (details of what must be included or avoided) are not revealed until the Launch Party.

Creativity meets a ticking clock and the results are always impressive, hilarious, moving, and completely unpredictable.

All local entries premiere Friday night at the Weinberg Center. Then, finalists and award winners return for the big Saturday Night Main Event followed by the award ceremony. Keep an eye out for special Saturday Matinee screenings as well.

From first-time filmmakers and students to seasoned pros, come out and cheer on your favorites. Give some love to the incredibly talented folks right here in Frederick, and beyond!

Wondering about this year’s theme?…We’ll say one thing: 21.
