The Selecter sono guidati dall’iconica frontwoman Pauline Black, spesso definita la Queen of Ska. Tra le pochissime donne della scena 2 Tone, Pauline è diventata una figura di riferimento assoluto nella musica britannica. Nel 2025 la band celebra il 45° anniversario dell’album d’esordio con un tour che tocca i principali festival e palchi europei – tra cui la storica esibizione sul Pyramid Stage del Glastonbury 2025. Tra i momenti più significativi c’è l’uscita del documentario Pauline Black: A 2-Tone Story, diretto da Jane Mingay e basato sull’autobiografia Black by Design. Il film, che ha debuttato al BFI London Film Festival nell’ottobre 2024, ha recentemente vinto il premio come Best Documentary – LP Doc Film al See You Sound International Music Film Festival di Torino, assegnato dalla giuria del concorso LONG PLAY DOC – Documentary composta da Lisa Bosi, Edoardo Rossi e Paolo Maria Spina. Attraverso materiali d’archivio, interviste e contributi di protagonisti della scena artistica inglese, racconta la straordinaria storia personale e musicale di Pauline. 

La band continua a pubblicare nuova musica, tra cui l’acclamato album del 2023 Human Algebra, che ha visto la partecipazione dell’amatissimo Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson, scomparso nel giugno 2024. L’attuale formazione include anche il batterista originale Charley ‘Aitch’ Bembridge e mantiene intatto lo spirito anarchico e coinvolgente delle origini.
