This concert presented by the MSO explores the musical magic of a much-loved children’s classic, Peter and the Wolf. Originally conceived in 1936 as a symphonic fairytale for young people, the work is heavily narrative-based and guided by a live narrator. Based around several overt musical themes played by instruments and matched to the various animals/characters of the story, Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf has long been regarded as the perfect introduction to the symphony orchestra.
