Learn how to encourage your native seeds to sprout

Native plants are known for being low-maintenance additions to the garden, but their seeds often require a bit of special treatment in order to germinate. During this virtual workshop, we will discuss various techniques to awaken your native seeds and spur their growth. No native plant gardening or botany experience is required to learn from this workshop; all methods will be explained in layman’s terms in order to make the native-plant-growing process as straightforward as possible! This workshop is offered as part of our WNC Wildseed Library program (https://www.mainspringconserves.org/wnc-wildseed-library/), and participants are encouraged to try out these methods on the FREE native seeds available through our distribution sites at the Macon County Public Library and Jackson County Public Library.

This event is open to the public, and will run for about an hour. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. After the workshop, a recording with be emailed to registrants, so viewing the workshop live is not required. Please register through the form on our website, and a Zoom link will be sent to you in the days leading up to the event.

This workshop is donation-based, with a suggested donation of $5. Please give what you can, but not more than you can. Your support allows us to protect the special creatures, plants, landscapes, and heritage of WNC for the benefit of all! Donations can be made online (www.mainspringconserves.networkforgood.com, select “upcoming event” from the dropdown box,) or by check made out to Mainspring Conservation Trust and mailed to our office.
