Prepare for the Great Backyard Bird Count by learning how to use eBird, a community science app

Record the birds you see and hear while helping scientists with their research! This webinar will familiarize attendees with the eBird app in the days leading up to the Great Backyard Bird Count, a global community science effort to census birds before they undertake their great spring migration. We will discuss how to use the eBird app and website, how your data is used by researchers, and why submitting data through eBird is so important for our region! Though this webinar is primarily focused on the in’s-and-out’s of eBird, we will also briefly review common bird species we are likely to see at Mainspring’s Great Backyard Bird Count Walks in Cullowhee and Hayesville. This event will end with a Q&A session.

This free, educational webinar will occur virtually on Wednesday, February 11th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Interested parties are encouraged to join us for one of our free, guided Great Backyard Bird Count Walks on Friday, February 13th. The Cullowhee Great Backyard Bird Count Walk will occur on the Jackson County Greenway from 9:00am-11:00am, and the Hayesville Great Backyard Bird Count Walk will take place at the Clay County Rec Center from 10:00am-12:00pm.
